NCS and Thank You!

Before I start this I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone that has read recently; this month, my blog statistics has risen a lot and I am so humbled by this.Obviously, I'm aware that to some, a couple of thousand page views is very low but when I logged on to blogger today, I was astounded at the amount of page views I had had recently and it was a little surreal - when I type up this at home, I never really think that people are actually reading it... Maybe you aren't, you just stumbled here by mistake but either way I am so grateful for all your support, both on here and on my YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/ellerosevids) particularly to some of the lovely commenters on recent videos; I think the internet can be a fantastic, supportive place if we use it for the right reasons and I hope you've enjoyed reading.
Speaking of using the internet for the right reasons (smooth transition, I know) as you may be aware, over the past three weeks, I've been completing NCS (National Citizen Service) a programme for 16-17 year olds to complete (similar to a summer camp but to benefit the community and build lifeskills).
This week, we have been working on our social action project, Mindset.
The idea of the project is to create an online magazine for 14-18 year olds (but others are free to read) that aims to increase the positivity, happiness and therefore motivation of young people to give them a great start in life and create a friendlier, more accepting community.
It would mean the world to us if you could follow/share us on Twitter (@mindsetncs) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/mindsetncs) and check out our website: www.mindsetncs.blogspot,co.uk where we'll be posting our articles!
There's also an oppourtunity to get involved and contribute your own articles to be published on the site, simply email: mindsetncs@hotmail.com with your article (or just an idea of something you would like to see on there) so we can read it.
Finally, we've set up a survey to ensure we focus on areas important to teens and collect data to help us create our pieces, fill in the quick, anonymous survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/YWCKMSS
Thank you so much for reading, I know posts have been sporadic but once NCS is over, I've got lots more content coming your way :)

13 Things I Would Tell My 13 Year Old Self

I was looking at my blog the other day and realised that one of the things I wrote my blog was about was being a teenager. I realised that this needs to be changed soon, I'll be 20 in October and past the point where I can chat about what it feels like to be a teenager . To some extent, I feel I am already past this point, I have left school, am legally an adult, can drive and live alone for the majority of the time . When I began blogging, I think I was 13 . I began this blog in 2015 but prior to it, I had another, the name of which I cannot remember and any trace of which is loooong gone . So, as I leave my teenage years, I thought I would reflect back on what is nearly a decade, in the hope that a 13 year old somewhere will read this and at least take something away from it, no matter how small . Without further ado, here is a list of things I would tell my 13 year old self . 1. stop obsessing about your weight  You've been conscious of your weight from a very early

Somehow I'm Going to Oxford....

This blog post is a little (a lot) on the surreal side. If you follow my on Instagram you may already know this but if not, I thought I'd just add a quick note on here. I am about to officially become a first year Law student at the University of Oxford! I'll probably post a little bit more about this at another time but for now, I thought I'd just briefly highlight the process. Flashback to September 2016. I'd just started A Level and for the past few years, Durham had been at the top of my list for university, followed by Bristol. I had never in my life even considered applying to Oxford or Cambridge. At all. My head of Sixth Form came and spoke to me and said that a student from Cambridge was coming in to school to speak to students about studying at Oxbridge and he thought I should go. I said I really wasn't interested; I didn't know anything about the universities, I was 100% sure I wasn't smart enough, posh enough or just good enough to even co
